Hydraulic piston rod seals

Hydraulic piston rod seals are key components in hydraulic systems. These seals are located around the piston and are used to prevent hydraulic oil leaks from the cylinder. They must be resistant to high pressures, temperatures and wear. The most common types of piston rod seals are O-rings, sealing sleeves and lifting rings. Proper selection and maintenance of these seals is essential for safe and reliable operation of hydraulic equipment.

Material properties

PU

PU seals are primarily designed for use in hydraulic applications. PU material has
higher durability compared to NBR material and is able to seal higher pressures.
However, due to the NBR material it has a lower quality of abrasion. Polyurethane provides

cuffs a long service life and the ability to withstand harsh environments.
Operating temperature -40 °C to +100 °C.
PU seals are suitable for hydraulic oils according to DIN 51524 (1-3 and lubricating
mineral oils. For HFA and HFB pressure fluids the operating temperature is limited
to +60 °C, for HFC to +40 °C.

NBR

Seals made of nitrile butadiene are suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
with lower operating pressures. Compared to PU, NBR is not suitable for
high pressure seals, but has a higher quality of abrasion and better adhesion with minimal
creep. NBR can also be successfully used in pneumatic applications.

Operating temperature -30 °C to +100 °C.

NBR seals are suitable for hydraulic oils according to DIN 51524 (1-3) and lubricating oils
mineral oils. For HFA and HFB pressure fluids, the operating temperature is limited to
+60 °C, for HFC to +40 °C.
