Scope of application
Many equipment, machines and drives where low strain loss, short slip, quiet running, low vibration, high belt speeds and small pulley diameters are required. Specifically, they are used in:
- Booms, crushers, caters, saws: In mining and materials processing.
- Cutters, mills, lathes, grinders, planers.
- Machinery in the textile industry: Driving textile machinery and equipment.
- Hydroelectric power plants: For driving hydroelectric turbines and other equipment.
- Roller conveyor drives: For transporting materials in logistics and industry.
- Harvesters: In the agricultural sector for harvesting crops.
- Hand-held machinery: Power transmission and drive for various hand tools and machines.
And other applications that require specific power transmission and drive characteristics.
Design
Flat belts are manufactured by gluing the prepared ends of selected material (semi-finished rolls). Some types are manufactured as an endless sleeve and the required belt width is cut from the sleeve. Each material from which a flat belt is made is composed of several layers.
The base layer is a tensile carcass made of PAD or PES fibers, which determines the overall tensile strength of the belt. This strength is given in N per 1 cm of belt width when the belt is stretched by 1-2.5% tension. The partial top layers, applied to the carcass, characterise the overall properties of the belt. The most important properties are coefficient of friction, thickness, material hardness, temperature resistance, oil resistance and antistatic properties. Based on these properties, the most optimal material for the load and working environment is always selected for the production of the flat belt.
Good advice: If you don't know the type of material you require for your drive, don't waste your efforts trying to determine the material yourself without experience. If you provide us with the basic parameters of your drive, we will suggest a suitable material based on our many years of experience. We always need to know the following to calculate the drive:
- The amount of transmitted power (motor input).
- The speed and diameter of the drive pulley.
- The diameter of the smallest pulley in the transmission.
The parametric calculation questionnaire can be found in this catalogue or on our website.
