Design A - standard design. The base of the V-ring has a straight rear face.

VS
Application: axial rotary seals
Material: NBR 60
Operating temperature: -40 °C to +100 °C
Peripheral speed: ≤ 8 m/s
Material: FPM 60 (on request)
Temperature range: -20 °C to +200 °C
Peripheral speed: ≤ 6.5 m/s

Design S - reinforced body. Design with reinforced base. Base
The V-ring, which encircles the shaft, is widened by beveling the back side.
This allows the ring to fit more tightly around the shaft.

Design L - thin profile
The V-ring has a narrower profile than the VA profile. Due to the narrow cross-section, the V-ring is
is suitable for compact installation with a small footprint.

Functions, uses, advantages
Thanks to the smaller diameter of the V-ring than the shaft itself, every
V-ring for multiple shaft diameters. Flexibility and adaptability of the sealing lip
allows for greater tolerances in alignment and angular deviation. V-rings are simply
easy to install, have low friction, do not require a hardened counterface, have
long service life and are suitable for high speed applications. In special cases
V-ring can also be used as a static seal. V-rings are often used
in combination with other types of seals as protection. For more effective protection,
for example, when exposed to masses of soil or gravel, we recommend the use of axial
VRM seals.
Resistance and material properties
NBR
Good resistance to many lubricants and mineral oils.
Operating temperature -40 to +100 °C.
FPM
Resistance to mineral oils and lubricants, engine, gear and ATF oils, fuels,
aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, resistance to a wide range of chemicals.
Operating temperature -20 to +200 °C.
Static surface properties
V-ring works against static surfaces. At the contact surfaces of the surface, the
maintain a surface roughness of Rt = 1 - 10 for unlubricated seals and Rt = 1 - 10 for seals.
Rt = 10 - 20 for grease lubricated seals,
that the contact surface has no direction-dependent surface texture
of movement. Otherwise, the surface should be modified, e.g. by turning, to
counter-rotating spiral.
Material Recommended hardness Media
Carbon steel 125 - 150 HV Sludge, dust
Cast iron 190 - 270 HV Sludge, dust
Cast bronze 100 - 160 HV Water, dust
Injection moulded aluminium 90 - 160 HV Water mist
Stainless steel 150 - 200 HV Water
Installation
Installation of the V-ring is simple and time-saving. It is mounted on the shaft
by threading and, if the ring has a sufficient diameter, it can also be pulled over
over the flange. The diameter of the V-ring in the unstressed state is smaller than the diameter of the
of the shaft on which it is slipped. As a result, one size of V-ring can be used
for multiple shaft diameters. In the event of difficult shaft disassembly or
other components, it is advisable to use a split ring. This must then be glued together
or vulcanised in place.
