Shaft mounted sprockets are an integral part of chain drives. The wheels are clamped on the shaft in the same way as the V-belt pulleys, i.e. by means of a bushing or by inserting the shaft into a drilled hole and securing it with a pen.

The sprockets are sold in a variety of configurations, including single-row, double-row and triple-row variants. Each type has its own specific application and features.
